Floor Cleaners
  • 1/4 Cup white vinegar to a bucket of water
  • 10 drops Lemon oil
  • 4 drops Oregano oil
  • Add 1/4 cup white vinegar to a bucket of water. Add essential oils and mop! Oregano oil has incredibly powerful antiseptic properties!
  • My Favorite Floor Cleaner
  • 1 gallon warm water
  • 2 tablespoons Miracle II Soap (liquid castile would work too)
  • 10 drops of one of the following essential oils: Lemon, Orange, Four Bandits Blend, Red Thyme (for heavy duty disinfecting), Lavender, or Peaceful Blend

Just mix, mop and enjoy the wonderful aroma. No vinegar smell, yet a wonderfully clean floor and a fresh smell in the room.

Carpet Freshener
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 16 – 20 drops essential oils

To make a carpet freshener, add 16-20 drops of your favorite smelling essential oils (it can be one or many different oils) to a cup of baking soda. My personal favorite is Four Thieves essential oil blend. Mix well and place in a covered container overnight so that the oil can be absorbed. Sprinkle over your carpet the next day and vacuum the power up. (This freshens your vacuum too.)

Wood Cleaner
This particular aromatherapy recipe is for well-used furniture. The vinegar works to pull dirt out of the wood. It doesn’t leave an oily residue because the little bit of oil keeps the wood from drying out. It will store almost indefinitely in a jar with a good lid.

  • 1/4 cup white distilled vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon Miracle II green soap (a liquid castile soap will work too)
  • 5 drops jojoba or olive carrier oil

Combine the 4 ingredients in a bowl. Saturate a sponge or cotton cloth and squeeze out the excess. Wash surfaces of tired and dirty wood. The vinegar smell will dissipate soon. Buff with a dry, soft cloth.

Wood Polisher

Mix like a salad dressing, pour just a bit on an old cut up t-shirt rag, and wipe down your wood work. The vinegar cleans, the oil polishes. Then buff off. Oh yeah, don’t forget to shake it up again before putting more on!

Mold & Mildew Attack Recipes

Combine in a spray bottle, shake to blend, and spray on problem areas. Do not rinse. Let it dry on. The extended drying time is important to kill all the mold.

This is an aromatherapy recipe treasure. You may not need it often, but when need it, you really need it! Nothing natural works for mold and mildew as well as this spray. Tea Tree oil is rather inexpensive and a little goes a long way. When using this aromatherapy recipe, the smell of tea tree oil is very strong, but it will dissipate in a few days, the aroma is not harmful or repulsive, and most importantly, it does the job.

Vinegar Spray for Mold
Straight vinegar reportedly kills 82% of mold. Pour some white distilled vinegar straight into a spray bottle, spray on the moldy area, and let set without rinsing (do not use the cider vinegar). The smell will evaporate in a few hours.
Dishwasher Detergent
This is my favorite find. And it works as long as your automatic dishwasher works well. (A dishwasher on its last leg might not get those dishes as clean with this cleaner. I’ve tested it in both circumstances so I know this to be true!)

  • 1/2 cup Miracle II Concentrated Soap (liquid castile soap would work too)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 3 drops Tea Tree oil
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • sprinkles of baking soda (read instructions below carefully about this)

Mix together all ingredients except the Baking Soda. Store in a squeeze bottle. Use 1 tablespoon (never more) in the first cycle compartment and 1 tablespoon (or a bit less, never more) in the automatic soap dispenser for standard size dishwasher. Sprinkle a handful of baking soda over dirty dishes and in the bottom of your dishwasher to absorb odors and boost cleaning power at the start.

This is one aromatherapy recipe that gets rid of a lot of “bad air” in homes!
